EMI is currently looking for a full-time Consultant or Senior Consultant to join our growing team in Seattle, WA. EMI is looking for a quantitative market and customer insights researcher with a minimum of two years experience in a market research firm. We are seeking an individual with experience in choice modeling analysis and an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • In this role, you will help lead, develop and conduct the execution of cutting edge quantitative research studies in the energy industry. These studies are designed to support the decision-making of our clients, electric and gas utilities, which are striving to maximize the value of their customer relationships and drive greater energy efficiency program participation.
  • In this role, one of the key challenges will be to identify specific ways that we can provide advanced real-time customer and market analytics – leveraging increasingly voluminous and complex data becoming available at faster and faster speeds.

Requirements and abilities for the Consultant or Senior Consultant position include:

  • 2+ years of marketing research experience in a market research firm.
  • Strong background in quantitative research methodology and statistical analyses.
  • Experience with multivariate techniques and with Conjoint/Discrete Choice/Max/Diff, and Optimization – know when to use them and how to interpret the output.
  • Experience using SPSS or similar statistical analysis software
  • Experience conducting market research studies such as consumer segmentation, customer satisfaction/loyalty/NPS research, A/B testing, concept testing, new product testing, message testing, feature analysis and marketing mix analysis

Director of Program Evaluation

EMI is currently looking for a full-time Director of Program Evaluation to join our growing team in Seattle, WA. The Director of Program Evaluation will have overall responsibility for the technical direction and growth of EMI’s Program Evaluation practice area. EMI has a significant backlog of work in program evaluation and the Director will have the unique opportunity to build upon the success and momentum of these projects. This is a leadership position, reporting to the President of EMI, with overall accountability for work quality, client satisfaction, business development, staffing, training, and sustained profitability. The Director will also serve as a member of EMI’s leadership team, providing significant input and strategic leadership for the overall corporate growth and development its defined practice areas encompassing program planning, market and customer research, and technical analysis and energy management. The ideal candidate for this position will have substantial experience and proven credibility in energy efficiency program evaluation, and will also be highly entrepreneurial.

Responsibilities of this position include:

Client account management:

  • Accountable for client relationship development and management, ensuring profitability expectations and quality standards are achieved.
  • Accountable for client services and ensuring all client commitments are achieved, requiring sound judgment regarding project planning, resourcing, budgeting, research and analysis methods, QA/QC, and interpretation of results represents or exceeds industry best practices.
  • Accountable for contractual relationships.
  • Work closely with clients to help them understand the business and regulatory environment, and present research in a manner that is comprehended and valued by the client.

EMI is currently looking for a full-time Managing Consultant to join our growing team in Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Client account management and project management
  • Serve as day-to-day manager of evaluation, market research and/or technical analysis projects, ensuring all client commitments are achieved, requiring sound judgment regarding project planning, resourcing, budgeting, research and analysis methods, QA/QC, and interpretation of results.

Senior Consultant, Technical Analysis & Energy Management

EMI is currently looking for a full-time Senior Consultant for Technical Analysis and Energy Management to join our growing team in Seattle, WA. The Senior Consultant position requires a versatile, experienced and entrepreneurial engineer to help build our Technical Analysis and Energy Management practice area. The Senior Consultant will lead engineering analyses to support utility energy efficiency and demand response (EE/DR) program development and evaluation, and will be responsible for the design, management and implementation of measurement and verification (M&V) studies of energy efficiency measures.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead impact evaluations of utility energy efficiency programs
  • Create detailed work plans for impact evaluation studies
  • Conduct engineering analysis of energy measures and systems
  • Provide cost-effectiveness analysis and other engineering economic analysis
  • Manage measurement and verification design and implementation
  • Create robust M&V plans for all types of EE/DR measures
  • Manage and implement field data collection, including instrumentation
  • Conduct QA/QC of data collection and analysis protocols
  • Conduct analysis of field data, including error and uncertainty analysis
  • Design and conduct technology assessment studies
  • Design pilot studies for new energy efficiency measure development

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of engineering analysis, M&V support for utility EE/DR programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of M&V protocols, including IPMVP.
  • Demonstrated understanding of impact evaluation protocols and best practices.

  • Strong project management skills.
  • BA/BS in engineering. An advanced engineering degree and/or focused post-graduate certification such as CEM or CMVP or LEED AP is preferred.

Consultant or Senior Consultant - Data Management and Visual Data Analytics

Much of EMI‘s research is multidisciplinary in nature and data-driven – the management and analysis of myriad data is at the center of our day-to-day work. To support the continued development of our data analysis capabilities within our consulting practice, we are looking to hire one or more consultants with the following characteristics:

  • Strong interest and aptitude for quantitative analysis and data management
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing and analyzing complex datasets
  • An understanding of probability sampling and its impact upon research design
  • Academic training and/or hands-on experience in visual data analysis
  • Experience visualizing data for multiple audiences
  • 2-3 years experience in applied research
  • Experience using SPSS or similar statistical analysis software
  • Experience using Tableau highly desired
